With over 30 years of experience in the automotive industry, Jara has provided technical and parts services to various dealers and jobbers throughout the National Capital Region, including Washington DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia.
Jara began her career in 1993 as a parts driver for a parts store. She progressed
through the ranks with her hard work and dedication and became a stock clerk. In less than four years, Jara was promoted to the position of assistant parts store manager. Her exceptional performance led to her recognition, and she was further promoted to the role of warehouse supervisor. In 2002, Jara moved back to Jamestown, North Dakota, and became a parts manager at a Dodge, GM, and Buick dealership. While there, she made a very significant increase in gross profit percentages.
Upon her return to the Washington, DC, area in 2005, Jara had made an impressive reputation as a parts manager and landed a position with Browns Alexandria Mazda. 2011 Jara changed to Service Manager when the Embassy Service Center hired her. She successfully operated a three-bay service station with two automotive technicians. Her impact was immediate.
Jara has been running several automotive repair shops since 2012 and has
successfully elevated each of them to achieve unparalleled performance and customer satisfaction. During this time, she has been responsible for managing day-to-day operations in a busy service environment, leading teams of technicians and mechanics, and devising plans to improve customer happiness and work efficiency.
Jara faced numerous challenges throughout my 30-year career as a female mechanic in a male-dominated industry. Finding her place in such an environment was difficult as male colleagues and managers were often unwilling to mentor and train women. Unfortunately, colleagues, managers, and customers regularly doubted my abilities and knowledge simply because of her gender. Many believed she was better suited to sales or parts than being a mechanic. However, this only fueled Jaras motivation to someday open her own shop catering to women and individuals with limited knowledge about automotive maintenance.
